Nuncle was asked to create the open animation for the main-stage event at the annual TED Conference in Vancouver B.C. With a deep dive into metaphor we asked what will be the next game changing innovation that will propel our world forward. The built environment was utterly transformed by a simple clay brick, then by the personal computer. What will be the next world altering breakthrough look like?

Nuncle was asked to come back the following year to again create an original open for TED Vancouver, TED's main stage conference event of the year. Nuncle worked with Garry Waller of Momentist to conceive and creative direct. Nuncle also designed all original speaker titles introductions for the distinguished TED speakers.

Film Festival

Opening for the venerable New York Film Festival. Simplicity and sophistication resulting in a dynamic effect - directors names are called out through voiceover as they drop into frame. A rhythmic cascading abstraction forms, the directors names ultimately slowing to a calmness, bringing the audience to the start of each of the festivals’ films.

Film Festival

Nuncle was asked to return to do the open animation for the NYFF. Given only a stack of black and white stills of some very famous people in film, Nuncle stitched together an open using techicolor type and overlays done in sequenced animations put to a great soul track - all to dynamic affect.

Film Festival

Nuncle was asked to return to produce an open animation for the New York Film Festival. Traveling through the quotes of famous film directors we move among the declarations that drive creativity and storytelling. Using the simplicity of basic shape and color we seek to distill the filmmaking process into its most practical, salient and powerful components. Nuncle conceived and produced the piece from start to finish, choosing not only the look of type and animation but also the Brian Eno audio track.
